The Crown Plaza Hotel in Liverpool was bustling for three days at the end of September, as it played host to the First International Paediatric Brain Injury Conference held by IPBIS (International Paediatric Brain Injury Society).  We were fortunate enough to share a stand with Meningitis Now and have four members of our team there as well.

My-Best-FriendOver 400 delegates from 33 countries attended the event, and it was a pleasure to talk to professionals from around the world, and hear them singing our praises for the work we do here in the UK. They were also very interested in our range of publications, and we now have Buddy’s (with the “My Best Friend Buddy” Book and Guidance notes) around the globe, as far away as South Africa, New Zealand, Estonia and Sweden.

Lisa Turan our CEO was involved in chairing two of the Programme sessions; one on Youth Offending and Acquired Brain Injury, in which our Learning and Information Manager, Louise Wilkinson, also presented. Louise and Beth Wales (from our Scotland Office) also presented in the Poster Abstracts section and received lots of enquiries from delegates about the work we do; whilst Fiona Nelson, one of our Child and Family Support Co-ordinators in the North, did a fantastic job of engaging with people in the exhibition area.

It was an exhausting three days but the Team who attended felt it was well worth it to meet and network with so many likeminded professionals from around the world.

We are looking forward to the next one!
