In October last year we asked you to complete a survey about how we have helped you; thank you so much to everyone who completed this. You have enabled us to ensure our services are as beneficial as possible.

We would like to share with you some highlights from what we have found, and as always, would welcome any further feedback or comments you may have.

You told us…that our most popular services are our community-based Child and Family Support Services with:

    • 64% of you receiving a visit from your local support coordinator
    • 43% attending a meeting at school with your local support coordinator
    • 48% receiving support over the phone from your local coordinator

We listened…Because of the popularity of our Child and Family Support Services, and the difference they make we have launched additional services for Wales, the South West, South East/Coast and a new dedicated Service for the Midlands.

You told us…that you need our support after clinical intervention or rehabilitation has ended
One third of people contact us four months to one year after your child’s injury, and
Three quarters need to use our services for up to five years thereafter.
We listened…We remain dedicated to filling the support gap in the UK which can leave many people feeling confused and alone. We have launched our new Legal Support Service which will ensure any family who are in need of expert legal advice following a child’s brain injury gets the information and guidance they need promptly.

You told us…that the main reasons you contact us are for general information or support with your child’s education/schooling.

We listened…We will continue to ensure our staff have the knowledge and skills to provide you with a wide and varied range of information and support. We have over 10 years’ experience in working with schools and will continue to place even more focus on education.

You also told us that:

        • 80% feel you can access information and support when you need it
        • 70% feel in control of your families’ situation, compared with just 10% before-hand
        • 70% feel your child’s school now understands brain injuries
        • 70% feel your whole families’ quality of life has improved
        • 70% feel empowered to make a difference yourselves

Again, thank you so much to everybody who completed the survey. Your views are of the utmost importance to us so we are committing to an annual survey so we can monitor and evaluate our work effectively.

From us all at the Child Brain Injury Trust.

We are a charity who relies solely on voluntary contributions so we would be most grateful if you or anybody you know would like to donate to our cause.
