The Child Brain Injury Trust is pleased to announce their new Legal Support Service partnership which will enable the charity to expand their area of child and family support projects. The new service will include the introduction of Wales, South Coast and South West Family Support Workers.

This news is of the highest significance in a year that has seen the Charity lose out on a £300,000 Department of Health Grant for the next three years. Whilst we are hugely grateful to those organisations who responded to our summer appeal and helped us raised £30,000 to support our existing projects; we have had to make some important decisions to ensure we can continue to support families facing childhood acquired brain injury.

In a major step for the charity and to help us provide our vital support services, we are launching the Legal Support Service in March 2015. This service will replace the existing Legal Directory, providing families with access to a wide range of legal services, no matter whether their child has a legal case or not.

The funding that this initiative will generate will enable us to provide support across the majority of the country and part fund the Child & Family Support work. The Charity has divided the country in to specific areas to ensure we can make the most of the Legal Support Service on a national and local level. We are pleased to announce the following Legal Support Service providers:

  • Digby Brown Solicitors in Scotland
  • Irwin Mitchell Solicitors in Yorkshire and Humberside/North East
  • JMW Solicitors in the North West
  • Anthony Collins Solicitors in the East and West Midlands
  • Moore Blatch Solicitors in the South East of England
  • Foot Anstey in the South West of England
  • Slater and Gordon Lawyers in the East of England
  • NewLaw Solicitors in Wales
    • Each firm was selected based on their ability to provide a complete legal support service package and their ongoing unconditional support for the Charity. The Legal Support Service is a three year pilot project, at the end of the project it will be reviewed and open for competitive tendering for all firms who meet the criteria.

We will continue to provide a London Legal Directory of firms able to assist families with personal injury or clinical negligence claims in this area.

This is an important step for the Charity to ensure we can meet the growing demand on our services. We thank all our existing Legal Directory members for their support, and welcome our new Legal Support Service project.

If you live in one of our new support service areas; why not contact our Helpline now. We will then be able to advise you as soon as our new support worker is in place.
