IMG_2513We would like to say a big congratulations to 6 year old Joshua who recently came runner up at the Suffolk County Council Raising the Bar Awards 2016. Joshua reached the three person shortlist in the Rising Star of the Year – Primary category. The awards ceremony is a celebration of excellence across education in Suffolk and rewards those who deserve recognition.

Joshua contracted varicella zooster encephalitis when he was just 2-years-old and was left with a brain injury. His nomination for the Suffolk County Council Raising the Bar Awards said:

“Joshua works hard with his speech therapy, reading and writing and has improved hugely in the last few months. He is a happy boy who lets very little faze him and is caring, loving and affectionate. Joshua has made amazing progress in the past four years and deserves recognition for his strength and resilience.”

IMG_2522Joshua and his parents had a lovely evening at the awards and Joshua thoroughly enjoyed himself as a very worthy runner up.

The Child Brain Injury Trust has been supporting Joshua and his family since Joshua acquired his brain injury. Joshua’s mother Judy will soon be competing in the Norwich 10K to help raise vital funds for the Child Brain Injury Trust.
