Home/Events, Fundraising, News/2017 Art Event a fantastic success

On Thursday 2nd November 2017, Arbuthnot Latham private bankers in London hosted a fantastic evening to celebrate the Child Brain Injury Trust’s 4th annual Art Event. This year’s Art Event was once again sponsored by the child brain injury team at Bolt Burdon Kemp solicitors.

The brief for this year’s art was “A day out with Albie”, children were asked to create a piece of art depicting their perfect day out with the trust’s teddy bear mascot, Albie. We received a total of nine pieces of art that were sold through a silent auction.

The quality of the art work we received was fantastic, children used their imagination and local landmarks to create nine completely unique pieces.

The Evening:

The evening began with Arbuthnot Latham’s Richard McGregor (Senior Private Banker) giving an opening speech and introducing the Child Brain Injury Trust’s CEO, Lisa Turan. Lisa explained about the work of the trust and how families and children affected by childhood acquired brain injury are supported by the charity. Lisa also thanked our sponsors and supporters, many of whom were amongst the 70 strong invitees.

While many people who were invited to the evening, some were unable to make the event but wished to still place a bid on the artwork, with this in mind for the first time we decided to also open an online auction for the artwork on our website. One particular bid came in that tugged at many heart strings. The headteacher of one of the children rang to place a bid specifically on the piece of art produced by one of her pupils. To save the Headteacher from being outbid, Richard McGregor topped up her initial bid at the last minute so that the painting could go on display in the child’s school.

The Total:

The evening raised an amazing £2000 from the auction of the paintings. A massive thank you goes out to all those who came along and supported this fantastic event and purchased the artwork, to Arbuthnot Latham for hosting an incredible evening in a stunning environment and to the child brain injury team at Bolt Burdon Kemp who sponsored the art packs that went out to the children. Lastly a huge thank you and well done must go to the children who created such amazing artwork to raise such a significant amount of money! The money raised will go straight back into helping the Child Brain Injury Trust support more and more families across the United Kingdom.
