Fen Parry has over 20 years experience working in brain injury, 10 in her current role as Case Manager with J S Parker.  A keen distance runner already, it was this experience that motivated Fen to take on the London Marathon for the Child Brain Injury Trust in 2017:

“It means a lot to be running for a brain injury charity, as brain injury is still very ‘unseen’ and misunderstood, and there just aren’t enough funds put towards it centrally. This is just as much about raising awareness as it is raising funds.”

Fen tells us that she will also be 52 years young at the time of the marathon, so she will be running 2 miles for every year of her life!  After a long enforced break from running due to injury, she has taken to her training with gusto, having re-joined a local running club and taken part in lots of local half marathons and even braving a 4 mile run in the New Year’s Day race after having had “a very traditional Hogmanay.”

Fen is aiming to raise over £2,500 for the Child Brain Injury Trust.  A bake off-style event held in January raised over £400 and the general consensus from all involved was that “eating cake for charity is definitely a good move” – we couldn’t agree more!

The next fundraising event is a disco in Edinburgh on Friday 24 February at the Hibernian club on Easter Road. Fen tells us, “There will be a wide range of music for grown-ups – and you can bribe the DJ if you want a particular song (all proceeds to Child Brain Injury Trust of course). All are welcome!”

We are so grateful to Fen for taking on this challenge and to J S Parker for their support!  We can’t wait to see Fen smash her target and cross that finish line!
