Strasse raise over £5,500 for families affected by childhood brain injury

When 800 Porsche’s descended to the beautiful grounds of Lotherton Hall near Leeds on one of the hottest Sunday’s in August, little did we know how much fun our ‘fundraising’ day would be.

Raising money is a vital part of our work and one which we love to do.  It enables us to provide much needed support, information and advice to the many thousands of families affected by acquired brain injury we encounter every year.

With so much competition for donations it was a delight and an honour for our charity to be chosen by Strasse who a Porsche specialist firm are based in Leeds as their ‘Charity of the Year’ and to be part of their ‘Porsche Festival’.

Of course, we couldn’t attend without the help of ‘Albie’, who was duly presented by Lindsay Dobby of Strasse with his very own racing suit complete with crash Helmet.  He wore it with pride for the whole day and it’s been quite hard since then to get him out of it – He love’s a fast car, but also knows the importance of having the right clothes to keep him safe whilst having fun.

Not only did Strasse donate all the money taken from the bar, hog roast, but they also encouraged many of the trade stand holders to donate a percentage of their takings for the day.  This was wonderful generosity resulting in over £5,500 being donated to us on the day.

Our Legal partners Irwin Mitchell joined us for the day and sponsored an enormous Scalextric Track, which many of the children and ‘older children’ had fun racing!

Events like this take an amazing amount of hard work and time to organise and we are so very grateful not only for the opportunity, but also for making us part of this very special day.

Special thanks go to Carmel Gallagher our Child and family Support Coordinator working in Yorkshire for helping and for hosting a special ‘Pit Stop Picnic’ for some of the families we support.
