The countdown is on until Christmas 2018 and many people are looking forward to some time off work and school, time to be with family and friends. The run up to the day itself can be very busy with presents to find, cards to send and food to buy. For most of us the idea of an ideal Christmas Day includes watching Christmas movies and indulging in a bit too much to eat and drink.

In the run up to Christmas 2018 we are asking our friends and supporters to spare a thought for families whose lives are in turmoil. Brain injury can happen in a split second, and from that moment on – things will never be the same. We work with thousands of families whose lives have been affected by brain injury, and no matter how that brain injury came about – children can face a lengthy hospital stay.

Parents will rush to be at their child’s bedside, dropping everything to be there. The wider family will step in, taking care of other children at home. As for Christmas, that’s the last thing that will be on their minds. Those first few hours and days at hospital will be some of the darkest, but there is a way you can help us to make life a little easier for these families. We know from feedback that it’s the little things that can make a big difference, and so we are proud to announce the launch of our Hospital Lifeline Packs.

These packs will be given to parents whose child faces a long hospital stay as a result of a brain injury. The packs take care of a few practicalities with information on the hospital, and information about our service and how to get in touch.  It will also contain some personal care essentials such as a toothbrush, toothpaste and shower gel. We will also include some vouchers for food and drink, as the costs for that can very quickly add up. When your life has been turned upside down, it’s the little things that make the biggest difference.

Each pack will cost around £60 to put together, if we can raise £5000 then we can buy packs for more than 80 families. To visit our Just Giving page click here.

If your work or school would like to hold a bake sale, raffle or Christmas jumper day this festive period, then please consider raising vital funds to help us reach more families with our new Hospital Lifeline Packs.
