Everyone at The Child Brain Injury Trust would like to say a big thank you to Carole, Richie, Joe (pictured above) and everyone at the Buckingham Golf Club for their fantastic fundraising effort over the past 12 months.

Carole, Richie and Joe from the Buckingham Golf Club chose us as their charity of the year and set a goal to raise £5000 for us over the course of the year. The first four months of their fundraising efforts saw everyone back in lockdown due to the pandemic, which meant opportunities and events were limited. However, this didn’t affect their fundraising spirt and saw members come up with new and creative ways of supporting the charity. One of the ways the members stayed in contact was through one of their Whatsapp groups. Members started sharing recipes to try whilst at home, which gave Carole the idea of putting together a cookery book. This book was a great success and raised a total of £2000! Carole was able to secure three donations from local business which covered the production cost so all the proceeds were able to go directly into their fundraising pot.

Some other members found and adapted some knitting patterns online to make various Christmas items containing chocolates. They then sold these via friends and also through a coffee shop in London called ‘Yellow Warbler Coffee’ which added another £500 to the fundraising total.

As lock down eased, more in person events were able to take place which was great. Some of the other activities carried out included: Raffles, Ladies Captains Day, Ladies Invitation Day, Ladies Open, Men’s Special Golf Days, Clothes & Cocktail Evenings, Charity Walks, Selling Homemade Jams, Chutneys, Garden Produce and Golf Clothes.

‘We were delighted to help this charity and are pleased that the generosity of the members of Buckingham Golf Club are helping these children and their families.’

The combined total from all the activities was a fantastic £9,619.22! Which was well over the original target and especially impressive considering the challenges the pandemic has presented throughout. Thank you once again from everyone at The Child Brain Injury Trust. This money will help us to continue our work and make sure that the children we help receive the best possible support with all their non-clinical needs following a brain injury, to maximise their potential and secure their long-term future.
