On the 31st July, four incredible individuals, Lisa Turan, Helen Jackson, Nicola Stanwix, and Pete Mottram, quite literally took the plunge for the Child Brain Injury Trust by leaping out of a plane thousands of feet above the ground.
They didn’t just step into the clouds for the thrill of it; they did it to raise vital awareness and funds to help us continue our work with children, young people, and families affected by childhood-acquired brain injury.
Why the Skydive Mattered
Every year in the UK, thousands of families find their lives turned upside down when a child sustains a brain injury. The road ahead can be daunting, filled with uncertainty, new challenges, and the need for expert guidance and emotional support.
The Child Brain Injury Trust exists to walk alongside these families, offering practical advice, emotional reassurance, and tailored services at every stage of the journey. This work can only happen because of the generosity of people who care, people like Lisa, Helen, Nicola, and Pete, and everyone who supported them.
The skydive was more than a fundraising challenge; it was a fearless way to start conversations, spark curiosity, and inspire action. The sight of ordinary people facing extraordinary heights became a metaphor for the courage families show every day as they navigate the unknown.
“Those close to me knew how utterly petrified I was right up to the point the parachute opened, and I can honestly say, this was the most terrifying thing I’ve ever done. I battled every emotion you can imagine, but knowing that as a team we raised over £20,000 for a cause so close to my heart professionally and personally means a lot. It was great to spend time with Lisa, Nicola and Pete, who were all great to be around, as well as the fantastic support from the wider CBIT team. I might not rush to do it again, but I’m so proud we did it!” – Helen Jackson
The Impact of Your Support
Funds raised through the skydive will go directly towards our services, from early intervention support in hospitals, to community inclusion programmes, to online resources that reach families wherever they are.
A Huge Thank You
We are deeply grateful to Lisa, Helen, Nicola, and Pete for their courage, and to everyone who donated and cheered them on. Your generosity and belief in our mission mean the world to us and to the families we support.
