Announcing…the Diamond Awards!

We are so delighted to unveil the latest piece of our 30th Anniversary puzzle, the Diamond Awards!

This Gala event will take place on 4th March 2022 at the Doubletree Hilton Oxford Belfry and celebrates individuals and groups that have supported the Child Brain Injury Trust and ensured that we have been able to help thousands of families over the past 30 years.

These awards are an opportunity for us to sing the praises of our advocates, the dedicated professionals that help us deliver our service, our wonderful supporter network and of course the families that we cherish.  We’ve established 11 awards in total that range from recognising families and young people, to healthcare and education professionals, and passionate fundraisers.

We’re so excited to be able to announce that not only will the awards recognise some of our outstanding supporters, but that everyone can play a part in this process.  Nominations for our awards are OPEN NOW and we welcome everyone to nominate either themselves or someone they believe should be considered for an award by visiting our website, which gives you details of how to enter the awards: https://childbraininjurytrust.org.uk/diamond-awards-nominations/

The award nominations close on November 26th, so you have plenty of time to polish your awards entry so that it shines…like a diamond!

Not only that, but there’s also an opportunity to support us by sponsoring one of the award categories, or by buying a table at our awards ceremony on March 4th and joining us.  If either of these are things you’d be interested in, please contact Danielle Gibson; daniellegibson@cbituk.org .

This is such an exciting moment in time for us; when planning what our 30th Anniversary year looked like, we knew we wanted to have a substantial event that allowed us to celebrate all those wonderful occurrences that have helped us to keep offering the service the Child Brain Injury Trust is so proud of delivering.  After the last 18 months, knowing that we can plan to bring some of those closest to the charity together, that we have a chance to embrace our extended family in person, is simply amazing.

We can’t wait to see everyone, and we hope that in reading this, we’ve inspired you to consider who in your world has shined for CBIT, and get nominating!

Introducing: CBIT’s 30th Anniversary Year

We are absolutely delighted to be celebrating our our 30th anniversary year this year, and we kick off those celebrations by launching a digital initiative.

We have created a sub-section on our website that we will be populating every month with a blog feature (just like this one), a success story from one of the families we have been proud to help, and more information about a key figure that we know has been instrumental in helping the charity grow and flourish into the organisation you see today.

On top of that, we’re curating a timeline that contains significant events in our history which we’ll keep augmenting with fun throwbacks to other significant events in the world that were happening as we were growing.  Like all 90s children, we’ve seen a lot of change and growth in the world as well as gone through it ourselves, and we’re keen to share our memories with you.

This month, our inaugural key figure is Judith Middleton, who founded the Child Brain Injury Trust in 1991; an integral influencer in our journey and someone absolutely worth knowing more about.  We’ll also be shining a spotlight on Sophie, who also turns 30 this year and whom we had the pleasure of supporting following a catastrophic brain injury.  It’s an absolute joy to learn more about Sophie’s journey as she became an adult, and what she’s been able to do with her life, and we urge you to read it!

We are also excited to say that this month one of our fantastic corporate supporters, Rathbones, is recognising our 30th Anniversary by supporting us through a series of “30”-themed fundraising challenges.  Their Personal Injury and Court of Protection team has ploughed time and effort into setting themselves a series of devilish challenges, from a complete social media ban, to a golf extravaganza, swimming 30 lengths each day for 30 days, the list goes on.  Members of our team are also supporting them with their own sporting challenges and if you would like to donate to their attempts, please visit the JustGiving campaign page The Great Rathbones PI & COP Team 30 Challenge Event – JustGiving.  Don’t forget to keep your eyes on our socials to see updates on everyone’s attempts!

Not being a charity that’s very good at resting on its laurels, we have some other fantastic ideas and initiatives that we’ll be launching across the year.  We’re really excited about what we have to share with you over the coming months and we hope that you’ll join us on this journey.

Very soon, we hope to be joined by some sponsors who will support our 30th Anniversary Year and all of our plans.  If you are interested in finding out more about how you can support our 30th Anniversary year, please don’t hesitate to contact us; daniellegibson@cbituk.org .

All the best,

Team CBIT
