JMW Solicitors raised over £19,000 for the Child Brain Injury Trust, on 25 September, at a charity event featuring live stand-up comedy from regular Sarah Millican host, Jonathan Mayor. The JMW-organised event was held at the Manchester Marriott Victoria and Albert Hotel, with nearly 200 guests and an after-party at popular Spinningfields venue, Neighbourhood Bar.

Accompanying Jonathan Mayor on the stage were comedians, Andrew Ryan, who has featured on Russell Howard’s Good News and Steve Royle, known for his appearances in Phoenix Nights. Guests were invited to take part in a raffle draw and charity auction, where prizes included a signed Manchester United Wayne Rooney shirt and a holiday in Majorca.

JMW Solicitors has been supporting the Child Brain Injury Trust since 2012 and is the charity’s sole legal support services provider in the northwest. The Child Brain Injury Trust works tirelessly to support families who have been affected by acquired brain injury, providing invaluable support and legal advice to many families across the country.

Gordon Cartwright, partner at JMW Solicitors and a solicitor specialising in brain injury, said:

“We are absolutely delighted to have raised over £19,000 for the Child Brain Injury Trust. The comedy dinner was a great success and I think I can safely say that everybody thoroughly enjoyed the stand-up acts and there was not a dry eye in the house. More importantly, this money will go towards improving the lives of families who struggle everyday with the many unthinkable challenges that come with an acquired brain injury.”

Theresa Pass, Director of Services & Innovation at the Child Brain Injury Trust, commented,

“The comedy dinner was a really wonderful event and a great example of how positivity and humour can be used to make a big difference to so many people’s lives. We are really grateful to JMW Solicitors for hosting the event and to Kings Chambers for being such generous sponsors. The money raised will directly affect the work that we are able to do to support families who rely on our assistance.”

The charity dinner included guests from event sponsors, Kings Chambers, and a host of attendees from across Manchester’s legal services sector. Events company, Team Spirit helped to organise the event and offered their services free of charge.
