The Child Brain Injury Trust is delighted to announce it’s launching a new online learning platform – designed specifically for parents to access from the comfort of their own home and professionals to access whilst at work or at other convenient times.

The new programme is a series of webinars – online interactive presentations on a variety of topics that the Child Brain Injury Trust has had many requests about, these will be delivered by experts in the field of acquired brain injury (ABI). Explaining how the topics compliment the charity’s existing work, Louise Wilkinson, Learning and Information Manager at the Child Brain Injury Trust said, “The topics for the webinars have been chosen to support parents and professionals working with children with an ABI as much as possible. The subject areas allow us to give more in-depth information about some of the topics we get asked the most about.  The format of the training also means parents and professionals can ask questions as the webinar goes on. In our trials parents and professionals found this interactive element really useful.”

Louise explains why the charity is launching this new system, “In 2013 we conducted a strategic review of training and learning. Our aim was to create a wider understanding of the issues faced by children, young people, families and the professionals who support them, following childhood ABI. We looked at current trends in learning together with some of the factors that prohibited access to learning, such as cost/ budgets, time restraints, travel and our own delivery resources. This review led us to the decision that learning had to be more convenient for people and utilising technology was the best way forward.”

Louise continues, “We have spent nearly 18 months developing, testing and trialing the system, and we are now ready to launch this exciting programme. We will continue to develop this theme of technology based learning over the months ahead.”

The charity is anticipating a big demand for the training, so encouraging everyone to register to use the system as soon as possible, “Everyone has to register on the system to take part in a webinar. We’re asking people to do that straight away, they can then see which webinars they want to take part in and register to participate in those particular webinars.”
