We have all seen the loom band craze sweep the nation, but for two young boys, they also saw a unique fundraising opportunity to support the Child Brain Injury Trust.
Last summer Nathaniel Taylor and his cousin were making some loom bands and decided they would sell them to raise £20 for the Child Brain Injury Trust. Nathaniel and his family have received support from the Charity following his acquired brain injury.
As is usually the case, word soon got round and the donations started coming in. People were also donating more loom bands for Nathaniel to sell. His mother, Laura approached Nathaniel’s school to organise a non-uniform day with the hope of raising more money for the Charity.
In July, Nathaniel’s school held a non-uniform day where each child paid £1 and also received a loom band as a thank you.
This is the story of how Laura and her son were able to raise £1000 for the Child Brain Injury Trust. They simply called on their local community and were astounded by the exceptionally warm response.
Laura has been inspired to continue fundraising and plans to organise a children’s fun day next year; she has set herself a target of £3,000.
Laura adds: “As a mum to a child with an acquired brain injury, I know how hard it can be. Without the support of this amazing charity we would be lost.
Nathaniel had his second lot of brain surgery in May and Fiona our Support Worker phoned to ask how Nathaniel was doing, it was so kind of her. We can’t thank this charity enough for all they have done so far. “
