What is 5K May and Why It Matters

5K May is a flexible, feel-good fundraising challenge that invites you to move 5K your way, whether that’s running, walking, wheeling, cycling, or even swimming! Or a mix of all, while raising awareness of childhood brain injury and supporting families affected by acquired brain injury.

Every step you take helps the Child Brain Injury Trust continue delivering vital support, from early intervention and education to ongoing guidance for parents and carers navigating life after a child’s brain injury. Taking part is not only a powerful way to give back, but it’s also an investment in your own wellbeing.

Regular movement can boost mental health, reduce stress, and build a sense of routine and purpose, all while connecting you to a supportive community united by a shared cause. By getting involved in 5K May, you’re helping to break isolation, raise understanding of childhood brain injury, and create meaningful change for families today and for the future.

How It Works

Move – Complete 5K in any way that suits you, solo or with friends
Donate – Once you’ve done it, give just £5 to CBIT and help support children with brain injuries
Nominate – Challenge friends, family, or colleagues to take part too

No pressure, no competition, just getting active for a great cause. Every £5 donation helps provide crucial support for children and families affected by brain injuries. This challenge is for everyone, whether you walk, run, roll, cycle, scoot, or swim; you set the pace and choose how to complete your 5K.

Don’t forget to tag us in your journey and use #CBIT5KMay so we can celebrate every step with you.

Take part today and make a difference.

Join our Strava Group

Strava is a popular fitness app that allows people to track their walks, runs, cycles, and other activities, while connecting with a wider community for motivation and support. For our fundraisers, joining the CBIT Strava group creates a powerful sense of connection, turning individual efforts into a shared journey.

It’s a space where supporters can celebrate milestones, encourage one another, and stay accountable, all while visibly contributing to something bigger than themselves. By sharing progress and stories along the way, fundraisers not only stay motivated but also help raise awareness of childhood brain injury, showing others the collective impact of every mile completed.
