Job Description:
The Community Inclusion Coordinator will be home based, supporting the work of the Community Inclusion Team. The post holder will build a network of professional contacts and support networks to ensure all children and young people affected by childhood ABI, and their families are able to access appropriate information and the support they need within the community after an ABI. The post holder will empower individuals through recognising individual backgrounds and needs of communities.
You will need to be able to manage your own time and workload with minimal supervision and working to tight deadlines under emotional circumstances. Understanding how to build effective support networks locally, working across statutory, voluntary and community sectors to build effective support pathways for children and young people is also important. You will need to be empathetic, able to engage with children and young people and above all, always treat people with respect and dignity in line with the values of the Child Brain Injury Trust. The successful candidate will have:
- An understanding of the support needs of children and young people with special educational needs
- An understanding of local services across the South West and South Coast of England that can support families with special needs in the community
- Relevant experience supporting families with disabilities in the South West and South Coast of England
- Relevant experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and as a team player
- Relevant experience organising and hosting community events and support groups for children, young people and parents.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
The region of South West and South Coast covers Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Bristol, Gloucester, , Wiltshire, Hampshire, West Sussex, and East Sussex. In person attendance will be determined by the distance from location, with occasional overnight travel.
