IT, Gaming Resource and Training Centre
Adapt-IT are specialist IT and gaming solution and service providers for people with disabilities.
They are strong supporters of the Child Brain Injury Trust and can be found on the Marketplace on the CBIT in Hand mobile phone app.
Adapt-IT has opened a new Information Technology, Gaming Resource and Training centre in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, just 5 minutes from J9 of the M5.
It has been designed to provide an easily accessible and inclusive environment where people with differing disabilities, including an acquired brain injury, can try out the latest hardware and software.
The ability to trial and understand assistive technology is vitally important to ensure that available funds are only used on items that work for the individual.
The Resource and Training centre has been set up with hardware and software solutions that enable access to Work, Education and Gaming.
The centre has 7 dedicated stations to enable accessible gaming and IT demonstrations so that Adapt-IT can cater for most accessibility requirements.
Accessibility
All workstations are capable of being height and location adjustable and with differing configurations to achieve the best custom fit and location for the user to enable the trial of the latest assistive hardware.
Software
Adapt-IT are providing demonstration and trial IT suits to enable
users able to trial all the latest IT software for neurodiversity or physical disability support.
The variety of software includes Read and Write from Text Help, Inspiration 10 mind mapping, Nuance Dragon, and Dolphin Supernova.
You can also try out carer support packages such as Clicker and Widget to support rehabilitation, speech therapy and educational needs.
Mounting Solutions: Readapt Assessment Centre
Adapt-IT is also a premium Rehadapt assessment centre enabling the trial and setup of wheelchair, desk and floor mount systems for both IT and Gaming. This enables users to see how the correct positioning of equipment can better support accessibility.
Training
Adapt-IT have dedicated trainers who can carry out 1-1 and group training on all the software and hardware packages that they provide.
They provide awareness and orientation training for Carers, parents, and education establishments covering assistive technology focussing on IT, gaming and how to make it accessible.
You can also learn techniques for configuring Windows to ensure that it is secure and accessible.
Special Events
Adapt-IT can put on special events such as inclusive group gaming parties, so if you are a youth group and want to learn about accessibility and how you would game or use IT with differing disabilities, they can run specialist events to showcase the capabilities and build awareness.
